I have some information that I will use to check the performance of this decision.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board say that they will save around £240K a year (Let us see).
This was the finishing line at Chester Race Course yesterday. My wife and I have attended this event for the last few years and generally had very good weather.
I have to say I haven't seen so much rain fall so heavily for so long as it did yesterday. We stayed overnight and some shops were closed today due to flooding. Nevertheless we had a good couple of days.
Mike Priestleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16769034850624534057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6295603626061556110.post-80300501912824552212012-07-20T15:22:00.001-07:002012-07-20T15:34:28.211-07:00The Royal Welsh WayToday saw another section of the A470 signed off and named, The Royal Welsh Way.The section in question is the Bodysgallen Hall Hotel Stretch. I am pleased with this piece of work carried out on my Ward. I was contacted by a resident regarding the entrance to Glan Y Mor Rd, stating how tired it looked. I asked that this area be put forward for regenerating as part of The Llandudno Junction Regeneration Programme and was supported by fellow Councillors and The Board.

The grassed area will now be maintained and feedback from residents is positive. (I'll try and find a photo from before the work was carried out and attach it later)
Mike Priestleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16769034850624534057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6295603626061556110.post-23601094390318208182012-05-05T05:05:00.000-07:002012-05-06T01:39:09.829-07:00Thank You Marl Ward Residents

I will confirm this but it looks likely that April 16th at 2pm will be the time and date for the official unveiling of The Royal Welsh Way.

The event will be held in the grounds of Bodysgallen Hall. I am hoping that the Unveiling will be done by 1 veteran, 2 soldiers from Blind Veterans UK and a serving Soldier/Officer.

In attendance for the Ceremony will be an assortment from the Regiment including the Goat Major and representatives who have made this project happen including Gareth Davies who contacted me via Facebook to see if we could name a road after the Regiment.

It is fair to say that this small project has captured the attention and support from across Wales and I am really pleased to have been able to have progressed it.

My thanks to all involved.Mike Priestleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16769034850624534057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6295603626061556110.post-63775096445511013902012-03-09T12:15:00.001-08:002012-03-09T12:18:18.681-08:00The Royal Welsh Way

This is one of the eight signs that are now hot off the production line. On the top left hand side you have Conwy County Borough Council's coat of arms and the top right hand side is the Royal Welsh regiments Cap Badge.

There will be an official unveiling on the 16th April (to be confirmed). This has been a very rewarding project and I would like to thank the following for making this happen:

Cllr Merfyn Thomas
Cllr Philip Evans
Cllr Graham Rees

Glan Conwy Community Council
Conwy Town Council
Officers Conwy CBC
Royal Welsh Regiment

For their support:
Cllr Sue Shotter
Cllr Meirion Hughes

Phase 2 will be the naming of the Bodysgallen stretch up to the St David's College Roundabout, Wormhout Way.

I am really pleased with this project and the idea came from a resident in my ward via Facebook.

Official unveiling sometime in April. I will update via this blog.
Thanks to all involved.Mike Priestleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16769034850624534057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6295603626061556110.post-4453770497325534522012-03-01T04:19:00.000-08:002012-03-01T04:19:47.697-08:00West Shore & Kinmel Bay Wind Blown SandI can confirm today that Conwy County Borough Council's Environment Department has received a Marine Consent License, this license will now enable us to redistribute the wind blown sand below the high water mark at certain states of the tide (Spring Tides).

This will hopefully assist with the problem of the sand blowing around as at least it will get wet twice a day!!!

I have asked that we deal with this issue before the Easter Break. We will also monitor the situation.
The appeal supported by Tesco Llandudno Junction and my Council colleagues Merfyn Thomas, Graham Rees and Meirion Hughes collected items for The Royal Welsh regiment, items included wet wipes, deodorant shower gel, books, dvd's and writing material, these items are difficult to purchase on the front line.

We handed over hundreds of items today and I feel that these items may help boost morale and demonstrate to our brave troops that we are thinking of them.

My thanks go to all those that donated.
This is a camera shot of the surface water drains in Winllan Ave in Llandudno. In this photo you can see a rock in the drains, which has probably assisted in the flooding of this area. The problem was not helped by cars driving at speed through the water and splashing it against some residents front doors. I hope the next down pour of rain, drains a lot quicker now this restriction has been removed.

That said we have a massive problem with silting in our drainage system in Llandudno and I will be pursuing the relevant agencies to tackle this issue and will be asking them to publish their maintenance schedules in order to tackle silting.

Worth mentioning that this drain had been pressure rodded 3 times up to this point and had quite a quantity of sand removed.
Mike Priestleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16769034850624534057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6295603626061556110.post-3282786440754315372011-12-10T12:48:00.000-08:002011-12-10T12:53:31.713-08:00One of my Favourite Views

My Daughter is studying Photography and asked me for one of my favourite views, so today I drove her to one of my favourite spots.
Mike Priestleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16769034850624534057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6295603626061556110.post-59073160544267650792011-12-06T09:08:00.001-08:002011-12-06T09:24:26.496-08:00Clean Streets Very pleased to receive this award from The Association for Public Service Excellence (apse).
