Royal Welsh

I have just received an invite to a parade and the presentation of medals to our brave troops. This has come as a complete surprise and is in recognition of operation Christmas Goodie Box or as the forces call them care packages which we organised last year and had a phenomenal response. I am going to attend and I will be representing every single person that donated to this great cause.

The invite was from Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Lock:

Dear M Priestley

I am writing to thank you for the care packages you organised whilst the Battalion was deployed on Operation Herrick 11 in Afghanistan. Support from home means a great deal to the troops on the ground and your efforts in this regard are truly appreciated.

Her Majesty the Queen will be presenting the battalion with medals as part of our home coming parade on .........., at.............. To show our appreciation of your support, I would like to invite you to attend the parade and to have lunch with the battalion afterwards. I hope you are able to attend, please RSVP and I will have tickets sent out to you.

Thanks you once again and I look forward to seeing you on ..........

Yours sincerely

Since the Operation Christmas Goodie Box, I have made a number of friends in the battalion on Facebook and I am in full admiration for the job that they do. I will not hesitate to help our troops further if requested or required to do so.

  2. Thank you anon. I have asked that a member of staff from Tescos be my guest, because they did not hesitate to support this project, when asked.
